POSITION OVERVIEW JOB TITLE:

Summary:
The Controller directs the financial and administrative activities of the accounting department and provides information--primarily financial in nature--that will assist management and other users in making informed economic decisions about the company's future.
Key performance objectives in order of priority are:
Produces accurate and timely financial statements and reporting packages that enable management to make informed and timely financial decisions.
Identifying and reviewing key performance indicators, analyze business trends, and make recommendations to management for improving the overall profitability of the company and return on investments.
Providing leadership to the company's accounting department that results in continuous improvement of workflow and processes, and gains in efficiency.
Evaluating and maintaining banking needs to ensure the company has the capital to fund growth.
Interpersonal Responsibilities a.
Provides the necessary leadership, training, and supervision to all direct reports.
b.
Maintains open communication, productive working relationships and an environment of cooperation among operations and service personnel and the accounting support staff.
Operational Responsibilities a.
Oversees the company's financial activities and ensures the accurate and timely dissemination of internal management reports including, but not limited to inventory control, labor distribution, profit and loss statements, operating performance, and cash flow projections.
b.
Designs and implements a monthly financial reporting package for the President, General Manager, lenders and other interested parties; prepares or oversees preparation of appropriate analyses of variances to budget and forecasts.
c.
Identifies and reports on developing trends and relevant performance metrics; works with department managers to identify operational issues impacting financial results and participates with management in the development of operational strategies to mitigate the issues identified.
d.
Oversees the financial planning and budgeting activities for the organization and forecasts and manages the daily cash flow of the company.
e.
Periodically assesses the company's financial position and reports on the organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
f.
Prepares and submits all required financial data to lending institutions, external auditors and tax accountants.
This would include financial reporting packages, sales and general ledger information, cash flow records, check registers and account reconciliation.
g.
Coordinates month end and year end closing reports and audits.
h.
Organizes, directs, and evaluates administrative function and performance; develops and implements policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the accounting department.
This includes information flow, interoffice communication, the use of technology, and the assessment of various activities and functions.
i.
Manages the billing process; reviews aging AR reports and monitors collection activities of all past due receivables.
j.
Reviews vendor agreements and ensures payments are in accordance with company policy and agreed upon terms.
k.
Maintains accounting files, correspondence, and other records of relevance to the business operation.
l.
Maintains reports submitted to all federal, state, and local agencies on behalf of the company by the payroll service provider.
m.
Develops census data for solicitation of insurance quotations and advises the management team on understanding and mitigating insurance related risk.
Organizational Responsibilities a.
Works in concert with the President, General Manager, and other members of the management team to drive the strategic planning process.
b.
Stores and protects the safety and confidentiality of all vital company records; develops and implements a system with procedures and controls for disposing of records in accordance with applicable agency retention requirements.
c.
Ensures that all employees are aware of and understand company policies and procedures affecting their employment by maintaining appropriate notification files as well as displaying such information on appropriate bulletin boards in the workplace.
